In this talk, I will share my journey of discovery through the firmware and hardware of a cheap satellite TV receiver.

In diesem Vortrag geht es darum was man mit einem günstigen Sat-Receiver so anstellen kann, außer Fernsehen zu gucken. Dabei handelt es sich nämlich um einen kleinen Computer der auch gehackt werden kann. Es geht um Firmware-Formate, Framebuffer, Eigenheiten der MIPS-Architektur, und ein bisschen Linux.

In this talk, I will talk about the things that can be done with a cheap sat receiver, aside from watching TV. It turns out to be a little computer that can be hacked. There will be firmware file formats, framebuffers, idiosyncracies of the MIPS architecture, and a little bit of Linux.
